Thank you for Making G.A.P.'s Spring Fundraiser a Success!

On April 23rd, over 100 of G.A.P.'s closest friends (alumni, former staff and board, donors and host committee members) gathered for a powerful evening of story telling and community building. We were also able to raise $10,000 to sustain our award-winning youth media programming while introducing our work to a broad new group of supporters. We are so appreciative to everyone who helped make the night a big success and we look forward to celebrating next year when we mark our 25-year anniversary!

Do It Your Damn Self Film Festival!!, March 17- 21, 2015

We'll be in Boston for the screening of Youth Breaking Border's film V. The Great Performer at the longest running national youth curated film festival. Find a screening here!

NYCORE Conference, March 21, 2015

G.A.P. will be joining educators and students from across the city for a day of workshops to share practices and strategies for educational justice. Come to our table and discuss how to use G.A.P.'s youth produced films to engage your classroom or school in conversations about justice for immigrant youth, LGBTQ youth, and youth of color. Monthly Salon "SHARE!" at the Door, March 23, 2015

G.A.P. media will be featured at The Door and University Settlement monthly SHARE event on March 23rd at 6pm. This platform is meant to equalize the playing field by encouraging professional artist to present alongside our emerging young artists in the spirit of sharing and co-creation. Experience the power we gain from exchanging our talents and creative insights!

AYA Mic Up Against Police Brutality, March 28, 2015

Youth producers from G.A.P. will be screening their film about their experiences with street harassment as undocumented youth artists at CAAAV:AYA's #MicUP Against Police Brutality. #MicUP is an event for high-school-aged youth to share their experiences encountering police violence through the performing arts. Upgrading your Computers or Video Production Equipment? Call us!

Global Action Project, a youth media arts organization with a social justice mission, is currently looking for computers and camera equipment for our programs and trainings. If you or your organization is upgrading and wants to sell your equipment or make a tax-deductible donation to a great cause, we'd love your old equipment. Your equipment will be an invaluable resource for hundreds of LGBTQ youth, immigrant youth and youth of color throughout NYC who are using media at G.A.P. to share their stories and organize for justice in their communities. On Saturday, October 25th, three G.A.P. alumni, Adriel, Steph, and Yara, along with Co-Director Teresa Basilio, participated in the University of Orange's Youth Urbanism Summit screening of youth made media from across the country on the themes: cities in crisis and the impact on youth, youth action and our future city. 

G.A.P. Won Third Place in the Hive Challenge!

We are so happy to be able to share with you that WE DID IT! For the month of October Global Action Project participated in an online fundraising challenge with bonus prizes for the top three organiations to raise the most from their supporters.

Thanks to our amazing community, we not only surpassed our goal and raised a total of $11,245 to upgrade our existing camera equipment, we also won an additional $7,000 in bonus prizes for coming in third place out of a total of 28 participating organizations!

Media History Timeline Summer Program Recap

This Summer, July 21- August 31st, 2014, 17 young people from throughout NYC were employed at GAP to learn new media technologies, advance their political education and team-build. Young people were continuing to create content and learn critical new media skills in the production of a web application “The Media History Timeline;” a curriculum tool to help users make connections between historical moments, media and popular culture and our personal stories.
